Promoting smart growth and regional collaboration.

We work toward sound municipal management, sustainable land use, protection of natural resources, efficient and affordable transportation, a diverse housing stock, public safety, economic development, clean energy, healthy communities, an informed public, and equity and opportunity among people of all backgrounds. 

Regional Representation and Expertise

MAPC is the regional planning agency for the 101 Communities in the Greater Boston region.

Our region is made up of 22 Cities and 79 Towns. Our region includes a diverse mix of coastal communities, older industrial centers, rural towns, and urban neighborhoods.

"Game-Changing" Organization Recognition

In November 2024, MAPC received a "Game Changer" award from the Commonwealth Summit. 

Along with several other organizations, MAPC was honored for demonstrating exemplary commitment and creativity in addressing critical societal issues, empowering communities and driving positive change, and fostering a culture of inclusion and civic participation.

Hosting the Public Procurement Monitoring Office of Nepal 

MAPC was honored with the unique opportunity to host representatives from the Public Procurement Monitoring Office of Nepal, who were on a two-week study tour sponsored by the U.S. Trade and Development Agency to learn about U.S. procurement practices at the federal, state, regional, and local levels. 

MAPC staff presented MAPC’s innovative work and best practices in public procurement, including Emergency Procurement and the Apartment Wi-Fi program.
