Strategic Initiatives

MAPC's Strategic Initiatives Team works across all agency departments with a focus on MAPC-wide initiatives such as updating the MAPC Strategic Plan and other important initiatives. Much of this work - such as making MAPC's work both internally and externally be more equitable, involves staff from every department working in collaboration.

MAPC Equity Team Work

Throughout 2024, MAPC's Equity Team worked to strengthen equity work at MAPC.

Some of the Team's achievements include hosting cultural events like Hispanic Heritage Month, Black Excellence Month, Pride, and Juneteenth celebrations; creating an Equity at MAPC onboarding document for new staff; and establishing a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) subcommittee to support ongoing initiatives.

The Team also facilitated two Equity Project Share Forums; provided Racial Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (REDI) Statement training; and developed resources to integrate equity into Technical Training Program (TAP) projects.

These efforts reflect our commitment to fostering an inclusive organizational culture and advancing equity across all departments at MAPC.

REACH 2024 Closing Symposium
Created, led, and administered by MAPC, the Racial Equity Advancement and Collaborative Hub (REACH) was a training and peer learning initiative in support of municipal government efforts to create inclusive and equitable municipal environments and actions.

Throughout 2024, REACH members from the participating communities (Acton, Arlington, Framingham, Hamilton, Hudson, Lowell, Lynn, Malden, Milton, Salem, and Natick) came together for various in-person sessions, coming to a close with an end of year symposium in December 2024.
