Dear partners in the Metro Boston region:
As planners, we expect to navigate the unexpected, and as public servants, we have a calling to offer stability and strategic thinking in times of uncertainty. We take very seriously our role in strengthening the region by partnering with municipal officials to help them achieve their goals and gain the tools needed to serve their residents well. We know that whatever happens on the local, state or national levels, folks are counting on us to be steady, reasonable and reliable. Political climates change, but our commitment to excellence in planning and research is unwavering.
With our new Strategic Plan to guide us, and the inspiring vision for our region’s future laid out in MetroCommon 2050, we can plan and dream for the decades ahead, rooted in the engagement of thousands of Greater Bostonians who lent us their time, energy and ideas. Advancing equity, fostering sustainable development, encouraging collaboration among cities and towns, and working tirelessly toward climate resilience at all levels of government and community – these are the themes that emerge from that input, and they are the goalposts we will aim for as we look ahead.
We are lucky to live in a state and region that comes together to embrace and enact these values. We invite you to join us, and to recommit to the work of crafting a Greater Boston region, together.
