Clean Energy

MAPC's Clean Energy Department provides a range of services to communities, including comprehensive local energy and climate planning, energy-related technical assistance, and collective clean energy services and products procurement.

2024 Highlighted Projects

Cool Roofs Suitability Tool and Resources

The Cool Roofs Suitability Tool, created in 2024 by MAPC's Data Services Analytical Team, provides residents and communities within the Metro Mayors Coalition area with the opportunity to determine if their own roof(s) are suitable for installing a cool roof. In addition to the the tool, MAPC created a resources and tools webpage for municipalities.

Municipal Solar + Storage Resources Guide

This Guide, produced by MAPC in 2024, helps municipal staff, energy managers, program managers, and other community leaders navigate the complex landscape of solar + storage planning.

This project was funded by The Barr Foundation and the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources Green Communities.  

2024 Awards and Accomplishments

MAPC Awarded through MVP Program
MAPC was awarded nearly $500,000 through the Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) Action Grant, from the Healey-Driscoll Administration. The funding is to support continued preparation for, and response to, climate heat in Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Revere, and Winthrop.

MAPC Releases Greater Boston PCAP 

In Spring 2024, MAPC released the Greater Boston Priority Action Plan (PCAP) as part of the Greater Boston Climate Action Plan; a regional project that encompasses 167 communities within Metro Boston.
